Accounting and Finance Manager

Position Summary

In this position, you will take ownership of the full-cycle accounting and financial management of a U.S. business operation, leading the transition of accounting functions from an outsourced provider to an in-house structure. You will oversee closing, reporting, and budget management while serving as the primary financial liaison to an overseas headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Lead the transition of accounting functions (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable) from an external firm to an internal team, including the selection and implementation of required accounting software and internal controls
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports to an overseas parent organization
• Maintain and monitor cash flow and perform budget-to-actual variance analysis
• Provide financial insights and guidance to department leaders
• Oversee employee expense reimbursement processes and ensure policy compliance
• Act as the primary contact for external auditors and tax advisors
• Partner with retail operations on inventory accounting and store-level analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience with ERP systems and expense management platforms
• Strong communication skills with both finance and non-finance stakeholders in both Japanese and English
• Ability to work autonomously and manage both strategic and detail-oriented tasks
• Flexibility to participate in international meetings across time zones

Preferred Requirements

• CPA or MBA is a strong plus

Salary

USD110,000-135,000 + Semi-annual performance-based bonus (non-guaranteed)
