About the role

The Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division is seeking an Accountant Analyst for the Devens, MA site. This position reports to the Naples/Devens Accounting Manager and plays an important role within the organization. The Accountant Analyst supports improved growth and profitability through strong analytical and business partnering skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare general ledger, asset, liability, and capital account entries.
  • Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other management reports.
  • Prepare diverse and complex financial reports by analyzing account information and trends.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by analyzing account information.
  • Analyze economic research and studies, including rates of return, depreciation, working capital, investments, and financial and expense comparisons.
  • Provide management with accounting information necessary for making business decisions.
  • Recommend financial actions to management by analyzing accounting options.
  • Maintain accounting controls by auditing compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Write and recommend policies and procedures.
  • Maintain financial security by following accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Apply continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems.
  • Lead or be assigned to a special project team.
  • Comply with federal and state legal requirements and professional standards.
  • Study existing and new legislation, enforce adherence to requirements, and advise management on needed actions.
  • Establish goals and objectives required to complete projects.
  • Train and mentor less experienced employees.
  • Share specialized knowledge with others.
  • Absorb cross-functional or project team responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in accounting, finance, or economics. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in general and cost accounting area.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), methods and concepts.
  • General knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and/or Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • General knowledge of and ability to apply continuous improvement techniques.
  • Proficient with automated accounting systems, spreadsheet applications, and general use of intranet/internet communications and standard business applications software.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports; respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members and team leaders.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
