Accountant II

About the role

The Accountant II is responsible for the accurate, complete, and timely processing of journal entries, thorough analyses of the general ledger account activities, and other monthly analytical closing activities. This role also provides detailed responses to inquiries from various departments and supports the financial reporting process with documentation and insights.

Responsibilities

• Create and update moderately complex allocations and accrual analyses by reviewing general ledger activity and communicating with key contacts in other departments; prepare journal entries that support accurate and complete financial statements; maintain all necessary support.
• Prepare detailed account reconciliations through analysis and review of general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness of amounts/balances.
• Review monthly income statement and balance sheet activity to identify unusual trends or variances and provide detailed explanations for significant items observed.
• Research and respond to questions from executive or department management during the financial statement review process.
• Ensure internal control documentation and department policies and procedures are updated as needed based on changes in accounting processes.
• Assist with providing information and responding to inquiries from the Company's Internal and External Audit functions.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in an industry accounting, public accounting, or internal auditing role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university (or any suitable combination of education and experience).
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or CPA candidate preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency using Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SAP enterprise software and/or Business Objects reporting software preferred.
• Knowledge of SEC requirements, GAAP, and new accounting pronouncements.
• Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion.

Working Conditions

• Normal office working conditions.
• Physical requirements include sitting, standing (not walking), walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
