Accountant II

Responsibilities:Prepare retroactive payroll-related journal entries resulting from an HCM system conversion.Analyze payroll activity for both on-cycle and off-cycle payroll runs and identify variances.Research, validate, and document payroll variances to determine whether accounting adjustments are required.Compile supporting schedules, reconciliations, and audit-ready workpapers.Ensure payroll accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with GAAP.Maintain compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Payroll, Payroll Tax, and HRIS/Payroll Technology.Support month-end close activities related to payroll accounting.Document processes and provide clear explanations of findings, adjustments, and accounting impacts.Qualifications:3-7 years of accounting experience, preferably with payroll accounting, payroll reconciliations, or general ledger accounting responsibilities.Experience investigating and resolving payroll-related variances and discrepancies.Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control environments.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and data analysis functions.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.Ability to manage large data sets and interpret complex payroll information. Desired Skills and Experience 3-7 years of accounting experience, preferably with payroll accounting, payroll reconciliations, or general ledger accounting responsibilities. Experience investigating and resolving payroll-related variances and discrepancies. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control environments. Working knowledge of SOX compliance requirements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and data analysis functions. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage large data sets and interpret complex payroll information.
