About the role
The Accountant position at Hensel Phelps involves preparing, analyzing, and implementing payroll transactions, monitoring taxes, and maintaining accurate records. Key responsibilities include reviewing and reconciling payroll reports, processing invoices, and coordinating with various departments.
Responsibilities
- Prepares, analyzes, and implements payroll transactions in a timely manner.
- Analyzes payroll reports, statements, and records to ensure accuracy.
- Evaluates and implements appropriate payroll policies and controls.
- Coordinates payroll matters with other departments and vendors.
- Supports other accounting functions such as accounts payable and receivable.
- Reviews project time to ensure accurate posting to projects.
- Maintains cost controls and labor recaps in conjunction with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent.
Requirements
- Well-organized and self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
- Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction accounting, principles of basic report preparation, principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting.
- Business or Accounting degree preferred, but not required.
- 2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- College courses in accounting preferred.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week and overtime as needed.
- May require specific badging or other security requirements, which may involve background checks.
- Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to work in a light work environment with occasional lifting and standing.
