Account Manager Representative I
About the Role
As an Account Manager I at DHL Supply Chain, you will drive growth within assigned accounts and operate with increasing independence under limited supervision from the AM Supervisor. You’ll engage in daily discussions about freight lanes, rates, and solutions offered by DHL Transport Brokerage to support business unit growth and profitability objectives.
You will act as the liaison between clients, carriers, shippers, and receivers, fostering strong relationships through world-class customer service. Your role includes resolving issues promptly and professionally while managing the movement of clients' goods from pickup to delivery. Success in this position is critical to maintaining seamless supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
- Track and record customer performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Maintain, update, and manage contracts, RFQs, and monthly customer reports to monitor progress.
- Lead business reviews for one or more customers, compiling service history and cost data into formal presentations delivered via phone or in person.
- Build and nurture customer relationships at multiple levels within larger organizations, operating with self-sufficiency and moderate guidance from the AM Supervisor.
- Grow existing accounts by identifying and securing new opportunities within each customer.
- Manage the relationship between the customer and DHL Transport Brokerage (DTB).
- Provide excellent customer service through phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Negotiate spot quotes and contract rates for customer freight.
- Oversee daily shipments to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
- Monitor current loads and proactively identify potential issues.
- Collaborate with Operations to track loads, manage carrier incidents, and assist with invoicing.
- Work with the team to develop effective solutions for customers and carrier partners.
- Manage customer expectations using SOPs, KPIs, CRM, and other metrics.
- Ensure accurate data capture, integrity, and system entry for all customer-related functions.
- Utilize data and problem-solving skills to proactively resolve customer issues.
- Contribute to forecasting and budgeting by participating in the development and management of annual account plans and budgets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- 0-2 years of work experience (this is an entry-level role).
