Job Duties
- Conduct a sales call on all assigned accounts on the proper day and in the established sequence
- Sell in new brands or packages as directed from management or brewery representative
- Use Encompass sales history as a selling tool
- Have orders submitted thru Encompass by 5:00pm each day
- To improve products’ visibility and competitive activity in each account request an additional placement, display, sign, or static on every sales call
- Track sales for each account assigned to ensure ample product while avoiding out-of-stocks, hotshots or overstocks
- Communicate with delivery and merchandising departments daily using Encompass to meet the wants and needs of your accounts. i.e. display location, rotation issues, delivery times, etc.
- Manage and sell displays and sign placement to increase sales and distribution
- Place current POS with correct pricing in accounts where allowed
- Ensure all displays within your accounts include the applicable/seasonal POS and check all pricing
- Within your accounts secure the primary end-cap/location for your advertised specials
- Inform supervisor of any competitive activity that affects window position, pricing, packaging, or any other situation that may directly affect Miller of Denton, Southern Sales and/or Wichita Beer
- Monitor weekly or monthly incentives set forth by or brewers in order to gain new sales and new package placements
- Turn in daily, weekly and monthly paperwork on time as designated by the Sales Manger or General Manager
- Handles out-of-date products and breakage found on his route as described in our policy statement
- Pull close dated product from the floor and place it in the back room for the driver to pick-up and return to the warehouse or re-deliver to another account
- The account manager will be responsible for product quotas set monthly and distribution goals to promote overall business and to measure performance
- Stay current on all product promotions, supplier policies and sales techniques, etc. by attendance at meetings, training seminars, training films, in-house training, and other activities dictated by management to expand product knowledge and to improve performance
- Consults with Supervisors and assists in the training of Merchandisers, Route Drivers or Assistants working in assigned accounts
- Completes performance evaluations of company drivers and merchandisers in accounts
- Work with your low volume accounts to attain minimum orders
- Work with retailers on ways to increase sales
- Meet with store owner/manager/director on each visit to address orders and any issues
- Demonstrate a sincere interest in the business success of each of your accounts
- Understand and work with management on inventory levels by being aware of current inventory and out-of-stock situations and by alerting management to possible fluctuations in demand
- Ensures brand visibility within accounts by maintaining account standards as determined by management and using effective and current POS materials when appropriate
- Maintains product levels in accounts by taking inventory
- Supports account openings by placing opening orders for new accounts in collaboration with Sales Manager
- Remains informed of company/supplier activities and updates by attending and actively participating in weekly sales meetings
- Ensure signs are turned in and picked up on a timely manner
- Take all signs from bucket when at the office
- Check all chain accounts for mandates and promotions to ensure proper quantities ordered
- All corporate price features/promotions are executed per supplier mandates. (i.e. timeframe, price and package specific)
- Target specific accounts using daily goals worksheet to accomplish monthly goals
- Track and update all account listings
- The account manager is responsible to turn in promotion schedule and recaps monthly
- The account manager is responsible to stay within their P Card monthly balance, unless approved by Sales Manager
- The account managers to visit Class B accounts as needed to gain new business (where applicable)
- Follows company policies & procedures
- Attends company meetings as requested
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- An understanding of alcoholic beverage industry is required
- Ability to work with computer programs associated with the performance of the position is required
- Must be a results-oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills; uses diplomacy and discretion is required
- Ability to work well with all levels of the organization, to organize, prioritize, negotiate, manage, motivate others and solve problems is required
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines is required
- Highly professional, with ability to interface well with internal and external contacts is required
- Strong customer service and interpersonal expertise is required
- Decision making, thoroughness and time management are must
- Knowledge of geographic areas; familiarity with assigned territory is required
- Possession of a valid Texas drivers license and having an acceptable MVR is required
- Having a valid TABC License is required
- Passing background and drug screens is required
