About the role

API is seeking a seasoned professional to join our company as an Account Manager. The position will be based in our headquarters office located in Melville, New York.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing
    • Oversee the direction of existing API accounts to maximize relationships and expand market/wallet share.
    • Initiate the RFP process and be sensitive to supplier relationships.
    • Ensure RFP results are documented accurately and meet client needs and revenue goals.
    • Maximize API revenue and client savings goals through strategic planning and organizing.
  • Site Inspections
    • Conduct hotel site inspections domestically and internationally as required.
    • Ensure properties meet client criteria.
  • Contracting
    • Negotiate and execute hotel contract terms and conditions.
    • Maintain market conditions to ensure best rates and terms.
    • Manage risk and negotiate terms to positively impact clients.
  • CrewCare
    • Manage crew member feedback and ensure timely responses.
    • Add new hotels and ensure accuracy of information.
    • Delete inactive hotels.
  • Hotel Express
    • Ensure negotiated rates are loaded and maintained on Hotel Express.
    • Verify client backup lists are accurate and loaded into ACES.
  • ACES
    • Verify contract information is loaded into ACES for OPS and accounting.
    • Review and assist with scheduling issues.
  • CRM
    • Ensure all revenue opportunities are in the CRM.
    • Load and attach contracts to CRM.
    • Maintain flight information.
  • Day to Day Account Management
    • Collaborate with sales team to meet client needs.
    • Communicate with hotels and airlines to uncover leads.
  • CrewCare
    • Manage crew member feedback and ensure timely responses.
    • Add new hotels and ensure accuracy of information.
    • Delete inactive hotels.
  • Hotel Express
    • Ensure negotiated rates are loaded and maintained on Hotel Express.
    • Verify client backup lists are accurate and loaded into ACES.
  • ACES
    • Verify contract information is loaded into ACES for OPS and accounting.
    • Review and assist with scheduling issues.
  • CRM
    • Ensure all revenue opportunities are in the CRM.
    • Load and attach contracts to CRM.
    • Maintain flight information.
  • Develop and Maintain Budgets
    • Strive to create increased value for clients by providing new points of view and recommendations.
    • Work closely with Business Development team for client transitions.
    • Independently lead and make decisions balancing client and API needs.
    • Own internal communications regarding client performance, strategies, and needs.
    • Become knowledgeable in all API technology platforms.
  • Supervisory Responsibility
    • None
  • Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
    • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, normal core business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • Travel
    • This position requires travel up to 25%.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the travel industry and working closely with hotels.
    • PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales and marketing or related field.
    • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
    • Show attention to detail and produce high-quality work.
    • Ability to positively present API in customer-facing situations.
    • Strong Microsoft Office computer skills, with emphasis on Excel.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Customer service and client relationship skills.
    • Able to work with and understand diverse cultures here and abroad.
    • An organized self-starter who can work proactively and independently.
    • Able to multi-task and work well under strict deadlines and fast-paced environment.
    • Flexible schedule and limited travel availability needed based on business needs.

    Qualifications

    • Bi-lingual is a plus.

    Benefits

    The good faith salary compensation for this role based at our headquarters on Long Island is between $60,000 to $70,000.00 USD annually, commensurate with experience. Plus, annual discretionary bonus.
