Position Overview

API is seeking seasoned professionals to join our company in the role of an Account Director. The position will be based in our headquarters office located in Melville, New York.

Sources

  • Oversee the direction of existing API accounts to maximize relationships and expand market/wallet share.
  • Initiate the RFP process and be sensitive to supplier relationships.
  • Ensure RFP results are detailed accurately and meet client needs and API revenue goals.
  • Maximize API revenue and client savings goals by managing sourcing timelines and contract renewals.

Site Inspections

  • Conduct hotel site inspections domestically and internationally when required to ensure properties meet client standards.
  • Manage risk management for each destination to proactively address potential risks and negotiate favorable terms.

Contracts

  • Negotiate and execute hotel contracts, renewals, and addendums.
  • Maintain market conditions to ensure optimal rates, amenities, and contract terms.
  • Monitor and negotiate contract terms to positively impact clients.

Day-to-Day Account Management

  • Collaborate with the sales team to meet client needs and share leads.
  • Manage crew member feedback and ensure timely responses.
  • Add new hotels to the system and maintain accuracy.
  • Ensure proper loading and maintenance of negotiated rates on HotelExpress.
  • Verify contract information in ACES and assist OPS with schedule downloads.
  • Ensure accuracy of client backup lists in ACES.
  • Ensure all revenue opportunities are in the CRM with accurate business start dates.
  • Load, execute, and attach contracts to the CRM.
  • Manage flight information and ensure all deliverables are met.

CrewCare

  • Manage crew member feedback and ensure timely responses.
  • Add new hotels to the system and ensure all information is accurate.
  • Delete inactive hotels.

HotelExpress

  • Ensure negotiated rates are loaded and maintained properly on HotelExpress.

ACES

  • Verify all hotel contract information is loaded properly into ACES.
  • Review ACES schedules monthly to ensure hotels are downloading their schedules.
  • Avoid delays by assisting OPS with follow-up on schedules.
  • Verify client backup list is accurate and loaded into ACES.

CRM

  • Ensure all revenue opportunities are in the CRM with accurate business start dates.
  • Ensure all hotel/airline and API commission contracts are loaded, executed, and attached to the CRM.
  • Manage flight information.
  • Strive to create increased value for the client by providing new points of view and recommendations.
  • Work closely with the Business Development team to ensure a smooth client transition from contract signing to implementation.
  • Independently lead and make decisions that balance client and API needs.
  • Own internal communications to the cross-functional team on client performance, strategies, and needs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, normal core business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

This position requires travel up to 25%.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the travel industry and working closely with hotels is a must.
  • PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales and marketing or related field.
  • Ability to manage workload in a fast-paced environment, relying on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Strong attention to detail and produces high-quality work.
  • Positive presentation of API in customer-facing situations.
  • Strong Microsoft Office computer skills, with emphasis on Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer/client service skills.
  • Understanding of diverse cultures here and abroad.
  • An organized self-starter who can work proactively and independently.
  • Able to multitask and work well under strict deadlines.

Compensation

The good faith compensation range for this role is $65,000.00-$80,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience. Plus, annual discretionary bonus.

Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time according to business needs.

Performance of Additional Responsibilities

  • If designated as a Data Protection Champion (DPC), Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), or Information Assurance Accounting Officer (IAAO).

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
