About the role
Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Customer Center is seeking a General Line Account Manager to drive sales and service activity within a defined geographic area. This role involves quoting, strategizing, prospecting, and building relationships to meet revenue targets, enhance market share, and maintain customer loyalty.
Responsibilities
- Generate Revenue - Responsible for sales of equipment, service contracts, and service offerings to direct end users and partners within a defined customer base.
- Develop Existing Customer Base - Secure new accounts to expand IR presence in the market.
- Provide Compressed Air Solutions - Design and implement solutions to fulfill industrial customer needs, including compressed air equipment, accessories, turnkey installations, service contracts, parts, service, rental equipment, and energy audits.
- Keep Current with Product Knowledge - Stay updated with all product knowledge, industry standards, and necessary training.
- Execute Strategy - Implement strategies for continuous improvement and exceed customer satisfaction.
- Achieve Targets - Meet all assigned sales targets.
- Develop People Capabilities - Train dealer sales personnel and personnel within the Customer Center on selling skills and product/services.
- Manage Cash - Ensure orders are error-free with correct documentation, resolve customer disputes, and manage selling expenses.
- Ensure Safety - Adhere to safety rules in the field and Customer Center.
- Earn Customer Loyalty - Collaborate cross-functionally to collaborate with the service team to solve customer issues or offer unique solutions.
- Manage CRM Database - Maintain customer relationship management database, record follow-up activities, and provide feedback on market conditions.
- Drive Sales Pipeline - Track and report on all account activity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in the compressor industry.
- 4+ years’ experience in an industrial sales business setting or successful completion of the Ingersoll Rand Sales Development Program (SDP).

- Tech-savvy; knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM software preferred.
- Proven business and sales acumen, including prospecting accounts, navigating customer organizations, value selling, and winning competitive accounts.
- Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business, or equivalent.
- Experience selling capital equipment or industrial solutions in petrochemical, chemical processing, or heavy industrial environments.
- Background in industrial equipment, HVAC, compressors, pumps, or related technical sales industries with exposure to complex, customer-facing sales cycles.
