Position Summary
The mission of the Account Manager is to drive profitable sales growth within an assigned geographic territory by developing new business opportunities and expanding relationships with existing customers. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers, providing technical product knowledge, supply chain solutions, and exceptional customer service while collaborating with internal departments including purchasing, operations, customer service, logistics, quality, and finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an effective travel schedule to maximize customer coverage.
- Prioritize high-value and strategic accounts.
- Maintain an organized pipeline of prospects and opportunities.
- Forecast sales volume and revenue for assigned territory.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer developments.
- Identify new markets and industries for expansion.
- Build and maintain effective customer relationships by delivering responsive service, preparing for sales calls, following up consistently, and supporting customer needs.
- Follow SolvChem's sales process by completing call reports, maintaining quotes, verifying pricing, and ensuring sales information is accurate and current for existing accounts and prospects.
- Communicate relevant market information, customer feedback, competitive activity, and business opportunities to management.
- Use available tools, reports, and workload planning resources to manage time effectively, prioritize account activity, and support efficient territory coverage.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- A bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred.
- 3-5+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in chemical distribution, industrial manufacturing, or industrial sales.
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned Greater Houston territory.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software.
