Account Manager
Summary
The St. Paul Pioneer Press, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking an experienced, proactive Account Manager to join their high-performing sales team. This hybrid role balances strategic new business acquisition with world-class account management.
What You Will Do
- Strategic Sales & New Business Development (50%): Pioneer Outreach - Execute aggressive prospecting strategies to acquire high-value new advertisers across digital and print platforms including new business prospecting, closing accounts, and contract negotiation
Consultative Selling - Analyze client business goals to craft custom, audience-based marketing proposals and non-traditional revenue strategies
Contract Negotiation - Structure, prepare, and execute complex revenue contracts and formal business proposals
Objection Handling - Expertly navigate client concerns by demonstrating campaign value, market data, and competitive media advantages - Account Management & Client Success (50%): Relationship Ownership - Serve as the primary point of contact for medium-to-large advertisers to ensure long-term satisfaction
Lifecycle Management - Own the post-sale lifecycle, proactively monitoring active campaigns to secure renewals and expansions
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner internally with creative services, product specialists, and ad operations teams to build and deliver seamless media solutions
Financial Oversight - Manage accurate customer billing, financial forecasting, and proactive mitigation of client churn including client retention, campaign optimization, and upselling
Performance Competencies
- Solution-Oriented Initiative - High-energy self-starter capable of managing shifting priorities as revenue needs fluctuate
Market Expertise - Deep understanding of digital and print trends, ad technology, and competitive media metrics

Detail & Time Management - Meticulous organizational skills to balance high-impact selling with rigorous operational reporting
Benefits And Compensation
- Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 + cell stipend, mileage reimbursement, and commission (OTE $100,000-$110,000)
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc.
