Avnet is seeking a results-driven and relationship-focused **Account Manager** to serve as a field sales executive responsible for assigned customer accounts. This role is focused on achieving revenue and margin goals, identifying customer needs, applying Avnet’s value proposition, improving profitability, and building strategic customer relationships.
The Account Manager will work directly with customers, vendor partners, and internal Avnet teams to align customer goals with Avnet’s business objectives. This position requires strong sales discipline, account planning, business development skills, and the ability to manage complex relationships across multiple stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a proactive sales professional who understands how to grow accounts, identify opportunities, solve customer problems, and create execution plans that support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow assigned customer accounts to achieve revenue, margin, and profitability goals.
- Serve as the primary field sales executive and relationship owner for designated accounts.
- Build and maintain strategic customer relationships with buyers, technical contacts, decision-makers, executives, and other key stakeholders.
- Identify customer business needs, technical requirements, purchasing priorities, operational challenges, and growth opportunities.
- Apply Avnet’s value proposition to help customers solve business and supply chain challenges.
- Develop account strategies that align customer goals with Avnet’s sales, profitability, and business objectives.
- Create and manage account execution plans involving customers, vendor partners, and internal Avnet teams.
- Identify new sales opportunities, expand share of wallet, and support customer retention.
- Work with vendor partners to develop joint account plans, product solutions, pricing strategies, and demand-generation opportunities.
- Partner with internal teams such as product management, engineering, supply chain, customer service, pricing, finance, and operations to support customer needs.
- Maintain accurate account records, pipeline data, forecasts, contact information, and sales activity in company systems.
- Stay informed about market trends, customer industries, competitive activity, product developments, and vendor solutions.
- Represent Avnet professionally in customer meetings, industry events, vendor meetings, and field sales activities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in account management, field sales, business development, customer relationship management, or a similar sales role.
- Proven ability to manage customer accounts and achieve revenue or margin targets.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to work with customers, vendor partners, and internal teams.
- Ability to identify customer needs and translate those needs into practical business solutions.
- Strong understanding of sales planning, pipeline management, account strategy, forecasting, and customer development.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, deadlines, and customer requests.
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand revenue, margin, profitability, and customer value.
- Ability to work independently in a field sales environment while collaborating with a broader team.
- Comfortable using CRM systems, sales reporting tools, spreadsheets, and business systems.
- Professional judgment, strong follow-through, and commitment to customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electronics distribution, technology sales, semiconductor sales, supply chain solutions, manufacturing, engineering services, or related industries.
- Experience working with OEMs, contract manufacturers, industrial customers, technology companies, or complex B2B accounts.
- Familiarity with Avnet’s products, services, supplier ecosystem, design chain, supply chain solutions, and customer support model.
- Experience working with vendor partners to develop joint account strategies and sales opportunities.
- Experience managing technical sales opportunities, product lifecycle discussions, pricing negotiations, and customer business reviews.
- Knowledge of electronic components, embedded solutions, supply chain planning, demand creation, or related technical products.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, supply chain, or a related field is helpful but not required.
- Experience managing regional territories or strategic accounts.
