Account Consultant IV - National Accounts (Remote)

About the role

Active health and life license is required. This position is responsible for renewing/growing a book business which includes our largest, most complex accounts with indemnity and managed care medical products, ancillary/specialty products, and life products. The role drives revenue and manages current and prospective relationships to ensure success with products, supports sales initiatives and strategies within the national accounts market, achieves sales and profitability objectives by effectively managing existing accounts, and supports the sales and implementation of newly sold customers.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that each assigned account renews annually and aggressively pursues growth within groups by developing and implementing account‑specific benefit and financial strategies.
• Manages and develops a set of assigned accounts to increase profitability through strategic cross‑selling of products and programs, as well as installing new corporate programs.
• Develops strong and long‑term relationships with the customer and benefits consultants.
• Takes accountability for customer satisfaction and responsibility for managing the customer‑facing team, and SMEs on projects, educational sessions and other corporate initiatives.
• Ensures all deadlines are met.
• Resolves issues and handles client complaints quickly and effectively by utilizing internal support teams as necessary.
• Receives regular customer feedback and recommends strategy and tactical approaches to increase customer engagement and satisfaction.

Requirements

• Must live in the MD, DC, Northern VA area to travel into offices and for client and staff meetings.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related field; OR in lieu of a bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
• Current health and life license for the jurisdictions of Maryland, DC, and Virginia is required.
• 10 years of sales/healthcare experience.
• Travel requirement: 30‑40% estimated travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a similar sales position with a competitor or another Blue Cross Blue Shield plan is preferred.
