Accessioning Clerk - Fishburn Road

About the role

Responsible for performing venipuncture, patient registrations into hospital registration system, accessioning laboratory physicians orders into the laboratory information system, assuring proper handling of patient specimens, assuring accuracy of patient identification demographic and verifying insurance information. Maintain knowledge of regulations applicable to the lab and hospital to maintain constant compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture procedures accurately and safely
• Register patients into the hospital registration system
• Acces and process laboratory physicians orders into the laboratory information system
• Ensure proper handling and storage of patient specimens
• Affirm accuracy of patient identification, demographic data, and insurance information
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and standards

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Six (6) months experience in Phlebotomy required

Qualifications

• Prior medical assistant experience or clerical experience in a medical setting preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Pay

• Eligibility for shift differential pay based on the terms outlined in company policy or union contract
