Accessibility Services Coordinator

About the role

The Accessibility Services Coordinator at Clarke University serves as the official university disability services coordinator. This position interprets and applies federal and state regulations to ensure compliance, determines and disseminates reasonable, appropriate, and approved academic, housing, and activity-related accommodations for students, instructs students on the accommodation process, and maintains confidential student and compliance records.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the official university disability services coordinator.
• Interpret and apply federal and state regulations to ensure compliance.
• Determine and disseminate reasonable, appropriate, and approved academic, housing, and activity-related accommodations for students.
• Instruct students on the accommodation process, acquiring and using assistive technology, and effective strategies for learning.
• Maintain, administer, and recommend assistive technology systems.
• Maintain confidential student and compliance records, ensuring that all student case notes, documentation, and forms are kept secure and updated in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to facilitate implementation of approved accommodations and resolve accommodation-related concerns.
• Proctor and support testing accommodations.

Qualifications

• A master's degree in a related area (e.g., counseling, special education, psychology, rehabilitation).
• A minimum of two years' experience in disability support services, counseling, student advocacy, or special education.
• Prior work experience in a higher education setting preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with assistive and accessibility technologies, including screen readers, Read&Write, Microsoft 365 accessibility features, PDF remediation tools, and related applications.
