Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portion of student cases under the guidance of the Accessibility team
- Conduct documentation review for student accommodation requests
- Present ideas regarding reasonable accommodations to the Accessibility team and determine appropriate student accommodations based on an understanding of professional evaluations and federal laws
- Create letters based on templates and agreed-upon accommodations, and send accommodation letters to students, faculty, and necessary parties
- Assist the Accessibility team with communications including emails to students and faculty/staff regarding accommodations, welcome emails to new students, and welcome back letters to returning students
- Monitor and manage office email addresses (Accessibility@champlain.edu and testingaccommodations@champlain.edu)
- Respond to questions from College stakeholders about accommodations; direct concerns, complaints, or disagreements to the Director of Student Development and Learning Access
- Answer phones and respond to questions about the accommodation process from students and supporters
- Serve as backup support for testing center operations such as scheduling and managing testing rooms for students using testing accommodations
- Complete data entry for existing students and their accommodations
- Meet with students and supporters to discuss possible accommodations at events such as Admitted Students Days, Open House events, Orientation and ad hoc requests
- Facilitate educational training to faculty, staff, and/or students, as directed by the Director of Student Development and Learning Access
- Create accessible versions of printed materials and assist the 504 Coordinator with accessibility audits and updates to office promotional materials, resource guides, and related resources
Requirements
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities
- Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills, with sensitivity to issues of diversity
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Able to maintain confidentiality and work independently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant computer systems
Working Arrangements
- Full-time (37.5 hours/week), on-campus position at our main campus in Burlington, VT
- Standard business hours, Monday-Friday
- Comfortable office environment with regular computer use
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $48,000 - $50,000
