About the role

The Access Services Librarian provides substantive input in the organizational direction of Access Services in consultation with the Library’s Administrative Team. They manage the operation of ORCA, the library’s automatic storage system. They are responsible for Access Services personnel, budgets, and day-to-day operations; participate in the development, recommendation, and administration of Access Services policies, procedures, and processes; and oversee the management and maintenance of physical spaces and equipment assigned to the department.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Technical Services lead and staff on library systems’ implementations and upgrades.
  • Instills high service standards in department staff and student assistants.
  • Directs the efficient, appropriate, and timely expenditure of the department budget.
  • Oversees planning and direction of Access Services.
  • Manages and oversees maintenance of physical spaces and equipment assigned to the department, including, but not limited to: ORCA storage system and related software; Luxer storage lockers and related software.

Requirements

  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA Accredited program by the date of appointment
  • Minimum two years of experience in management or supervision in an academic library setting
  • Strong service commitment toward a diverse community
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated competence in project management
  • Strong collaborative skills and enthusiasm for working with a wide range of patrons, colleagues, community members, and external agencies
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Competence in learning new technology, equipment, and software

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: MLS/MLIS from an ALA Accredited program by the date of appointment

  • Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated success in helping students from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized groups, nontraditional students, speakers of languages other than English, and students with learning disabilities; Familiarity with ALMA/PRIMO

  • Ability to work onsite with flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends as needed

Pay

The Supervising Librarian, Range 3 (12-Month) classification salary is $85,524 to $182,532 per year, $7,127 to $15,211 per month. The anticipated hiring range is $85,524 to $96,000 per year, $7,127 to $8,000 per month. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
