Access and Reimbursement Manager- NPS Renal- Seattle, WA
Remote & field-based role covering Seattle WA, Oregon, and Idaho. Associate must reside within the territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 60 miles from the territory.
About The Role
The Access & Reimbursement Manager (ARM) will serve as the key contact and lead for access and reimbursement support-related matters, acting as the local market access expert on payer policy coverage, multi-channel acquisition pathways, billing and coding, claims processing, reimbursement, and integration of manufacturer support programs into account workflows. The ARM will demonstrate problem-solving skills, analyze access and reimbursement issues, and proactively communicate changes in the healthcare landscape.
The ARM will partner closely with Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation (NPC) field associates, including Customer Engagement (Sales) and Market Access, representing NPC with integrity in accordance with NPC Values and Behaviors. The role requires cross-functional coordination within NPC (e.g., Patient Support Center, Customer Engagement, Marketing, Market Access, Public Affairs, State & Government Affairs, Trade, Specialty Pharmacy Account Management, and third-party affiliates).
Responsibilities
- Interact within assigned accounts to support patient access, providing proactive face-to-face education on product-specific programs to providers and staff to integrate those programs into office processes and workflows.
- Analyze problems and offer solutions related to payer policies (e.g., utilization management, denial, and appeals), drug acquisition and inventory management, and patient/practice reimbursement (e.g., co-pay, administration, drug claims).
- Analyze account reimbursement issues and opportunities, identifying trends at local, regional, and national levels to support patient pull-through.
- Interface with the Patient Support Center (hub) on patient case management, including tracking cases, issue resolution, reimbursement support, and office staff education.
- Review patient-specific information to resolve coverage challenges when requested and when patient health information is available.
- Collaborate with cross-functional NPC associates to share insights on customer needs and barriers related to access and reimbursement for aligned therapeutic area products.
- Maintain a deep understanding of NPC policies and perform responsibilities with integrity, consistent with company guidance and Values and Behaviors.
- Handle Patient Identifiable Information (PII) appropriately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy laws and internal compliance guidelines.
Requirements
- Minimum three to five years’ experience in public or private third-party reimbursement, managed care, clinical support, or pharmaceutical sales.
- Experience with specialty pharmacy products acquired through Specialty Pharmacy networks or specialty distributors (buy and bill).
- Experience with coding, billing, and office support programs.
- Prior account management experience or experience with complex accounts (e.g., payer landscape, high patient volume, large systems).
- Knowledge of Managed Care, Government, and Federal payer sectors, as well as Integrated Delivery Networks/Integrated Health Systems.
- Ability to collaborate as a “team player” with sales representatives, leadership, and internal colleagues to reach common goals.
- Must reside within the territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 60 miles from the territory border.
- Ability to travel 60-80% over a broad geography, including driving and/or flying within the territory.
- Must have a valid driver’s license. Driving is an essential function of this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within Buy and Bill environments, including reimbursement and access support for provider-administered therapies.
Pay
The salary for this position is expected to range between $138,600 and $257,400 per year. The final salary is determined based on relevant skills and experience and is reviewed periodically upon joining Novartis. Compensation includes a performance-based cash incentive and eligibility for annual equity awards.

Schedule
For roles with a dedicated training period, the individual will be required to complete initial training, including home study, up to eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week.
