About the Role
Germanna Community College is a public, open-access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College serves as a regional leader and preferred partner, offering quality learning experiences that enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Located in Fredericksburg, VA, between Washington D.C. and Richmond, the area offers a diverse community with rich history, arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, and recreational activities.
This is a part-time position scheduled for 29 hours per week. State benefits do not apply.
Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support by creating professional and courteous correspondence between test vendors, examinees, faculty, staff, and students.
- Generates daily reports; researches student records; enters research data in Excel; completes daily task reports.
- Administers proctoring services for academic tests and placement tests.
- Provides excellent customer service and directs inquiries to the appropriate department.
- Ensures all computers have the appropriate software for each test.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting in emergencies declared by the Governor.
- Travel between campuses may be required.
Schedule
- Mondays and Thursdays: 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.
- Fridays: 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
- Rotating Saturdays: 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., with extended hours during final exams.
- Schedule may vary as needed.
Requirements
- Customer service experience in a high-volume environment with the ability to handle stressful situations.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office 365, including Excel.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to learn applications quickly.
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, and Saturdays.
- Must complete required certifications within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a testing center or post-secondary educational environment.
- Knowledge of academic and placement testing.
- Familiarity with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Pay
$20.06–$24.39 per hour.
