Position Summary
The role will assist Traylor Bros. Inc’s operating divisions in various strategic and operational initiatives as determined by the needs of the company and the interests of the candidate. The intent of this internship is to expose the intern to real-time industry processes or business functions, and expose Traylor Bros. staff to current academic thinking to better align future college graduates with the needs of the heavy construction industry.
Potential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Internships are expected to last approximately 8-12 weeks, coordinated with breaks in the academic year.
- Temporary housing and relocation assistance provided.
- Location, duration, and scope will vary based on project/company needs and the Academic Specialist’s interests.
Specialist Experience
- Exposure to design and engineering support functions
- Experience with estimating, budgeting, and cost control processes
- Participation in project scheduling and planning activities
- Involvement in project documentation, reporting, and coordination
- Observation of field operations and construction site activities
- Exposure to safety, risk management, and compliance practices
- Experience with quality management processes and inspections
- Opportunities to explore construction technology and innovation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Faculty appointment at an accredited college or university (engineering, construction management, or related discipline)
- Interest in building stronger industry–academic collaboration
- Enthusiasm for bringing practical engineering and construction experience into the classroom
- Availability for a full-time, immersive internship for the duration of the program
- Written support/approval from your home institution
- Comfort working in both office and field environments, including construction sites when needed.
