About the role

The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level in support of the Architectural Engineering program; advise and mentor undergraduate students; participate in departmental activities; and serve the profession. The successful applicant will play an important role in supporting the continued growth and development of the Architectural Engineering program at Texas A&M University.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses related to building mechanical systems and support the development of the program’s Building Electrical/Power Systems subdiscipline.
    • AREN 330 (Mechanical Systems for Buildings)
    • Additional courses related to building electrical systems, power distribution, lighting systems, building controls, and related topics within the Architectural Engineering curriculum.
  • Serve program assessment and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with faculty across the College of Engineering.
  • Engage with industry partners.
  • Advising and mentoring students.
  • Serving student organizations and project teams.
  • Participating in departmental and university service activities.

Requirements

  • Expertise in one or more areas related to building systems engineering, including mechanical systems, electrical systems, power distribution, lighting systems, building controls, energy systems, building commissioning, building performance, or closely related fields.
  • Experience in two or more of the following areas: Building mechanical systems (HVAC), Building electrical and power systems, Lighting systems and illumination engineering, Building automation and controls, Energy systems and energy efficiency, Integrated building design, Building commissioning and performance analysis.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with professional licensure, industry experience, prior teaching experience, experience working with multidisciplinary design teams, and familiarity with applicable building codes and standards.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must possess a doctoral degree or master's degree in an appropriate discipline together with significant teaching experience at the college level or an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting.
  • Candidates with degrees in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Engineering, or closely related disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply.

Skills

  • Ability to teach courses equivalent to AREN 330 (Mechanical Systems for Buildings).
  • Ability to contribute to the continued development of the Building Electrical/Power Systems area within the Architectural Engineering program.
