Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure): Clinical Open Rank and Title - Round Rock Campus

Texas A&M University College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time academic professional track (non-tenure) faculty position at our Round Rock, Texas campus. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2027, with a 9-month appointment beginning in January 2027 or sooner, and the possibility of a summer contract.

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach in undergraduate and graduate programs, with responsibilities commensurate with their credentials and experience. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor. The College of Nursing offers multiple programs, including:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Traditional, Second Degree, and RN to BSN)
• MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner
• MSN-Nursing Education
• MSN-Forensic Nursing
• DNP-Leadership
• Graduate certificate in Forensic Health Care
• Post-graduate certificates in FNP, PMHNP, and AGACNP

Future plans include a PhD program, a DNP in Extreme Environment Nursing, and additional graduate and post-graduate certificate programs. The College of Nursing is part of the Texas A&M Health Science Center and operates across Bryan-College Station, McAllen, Round Rock, and online.

Responsibilities

Academic Professional Track (APT) Faculty members contribute to teaching, service, and scholarship within the College of Nursing.

• Teaching: Maintain high standards in classroom, clinical, simulation, and online instruction. Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing and revising course materials and assessments
  • Selecting and managing clinical and simulation experiences
  • Providing clinical supervision and evaluating student performance
  • Academic advising and mentoring
  • Maintaining posted office hours
  • Collaborating with and mentoring faculty colleagues
  • Developing new courses aligned with curricular and accreditation standards
  • Supporting academic program accreditation efforts
• Scholarship: Engage in scholarly activities advancing nursing education, clinical practice, or health outcomes, such as:
  • Contributions to evidence-based practice
  • Presentations and publications
  • Professional development and innovation in teaching
• Service: Participate in:
  • College or university committees
  • Accreditation or self-study initiatives
  • Advising student organizations
  • Clinical practice (where appropriate)
  • Collaborative initiatives promoting the College’s mission

Requirements

• Education: Earned doctorate (DNP or PhD) in nursing. A PhD in a related field is acceptable with at least one graduate degree in nursing (e.g., MSN, MN, MS in Nursing).
• Licensure: Eligibility for a Texas RN and/or APRN license, depending on credentials.
• Experience:
  • Two or more years of nursing practice experience
  • Experience providing didactic and clinical instruction at the baccalaureate level or higher
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Use of simulation in nursing education
• Experience with adult health/med surg or obstetrics
• Professional certification in a nursing specialty area
• Five or more years of teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher
• Certification in simulation
