Academic Physician - MD/DO - Trauma Surgeon
About the Role
SSM Health - SLUCare Academic is seeking a fellowship-trained Trauma Surgeon to join our growing team at Saint Louis University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center.
- Academic Affiliation: Engage in teaching and mentorship
- Balanced Call Schedule: Trauma surgeons take q6 in-house call, with primary call coverage at q8 and backup at q4 designed for work-life balance and retention
- Collaborative Environment: Work alongside nationally recognized faculty in a high-acuity, academic trauma program
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive trauma and acute care surgery services at SLUH (and VA for split role)
- Participate in call coverage per established schedule
- Engage in teaching, research, and scholarly activities as part of SLUCare faculty
- Maintain compliance with risk management, coding, and quality assurance standards
- Participate in community outreach and educational programs
Qualifications
- Education: MD or DO degree; completion of General Surgery residency and Trauma/Critical Care fellowship
- Licensure: Eligible for Missouri medical license (additional multi-state licensure preferred)
- Certifications: Board Certified/Eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
- Experience: Academic experience preferred; commitment to teaching and research required
