Physician - Trauma Surgeon

About the role

The position covers the Surgical Critical Care Service, Emergency General Surgery, and Trauma Surgery Service. The team consists of ten surgeons and six nurse practitioners. This region's only Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, and Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center handles a trauma volume of 2700/year with 95% blunt trauma and a high volume of complex emergency general surgery.

Responsibilities

• Practice surgical critical care, emergency general surgery, and trauma surgery
• Teach medical students and surgical residents
• Participate in research opportunities
• Obtain an academic appointment through the University of North Dakota Medical School
• Contribute to the teaching and training of medical students and surgical residents
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care
• Participate in clinical trials and research projects

Requirements

• Fellowship trained in surgical critical care
• Experience in trauma surgery
• Board certified or board eligible in general surgery
• Academic appointment through the University of North Dakota Medical School

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Current license to practice medicine in the state of North Dakota
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency program
• Completion of a fellowship in surgical critical care
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong commitment to teaching and research
