About the Role

The University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine and USA Health are seeking an academic epileptologist at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This is an opportunity to build a rewarding academic career within our Comprehensive Epilepsy Program while providing comprehensive patient care, contributing to clinical research, and educating the next generation of neurologists.

  • Practice at our NAEC-accredited Level 4 Epilepsy Center with a comprehensive surgical epilepsy program.
  • Provide coverage for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, EEG laboratory, and outpatient epilepsy clinic.
  • Learn and apply advanced techniques, including EEG source imaging, alongside experienced faculty.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery conferences to evaluate treatment options, including stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG), deep brain stimulation, radiofrequency ablation, and surgical resection.
  • Teach and mentor neurology residents and medical students.
  • Participate in clinical research and other scholarly activities.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Neurology and fellowship training in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology.
  • For applicants who completed their training in the United States, board certification or board eligibility in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is required.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology is preferred.
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in the state of Alabama.

Pay

Competitive base salary with a productivity-based incentive.
