Academic Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 student groups, developing public speaking, teamwork, focus, and feedback skills through guided activities and narrative techniques
- Conducting 1:1 and small-group motivation sessions where you establish objectives with students, monitor their academic app performance, and provide intervention when progress stalls
- Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum: methods effective for kindergartners differ substantially from those that challenge 13-year-olds
- Conducting Test2Pass assessments to verify genuine mastery of the life skills you have delivered
- Leveraging student profiles, progress metrics, and coachbot analytics to maintain precise awareness of each student's status before every interaction
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering academic instruction. Math, reading, and science are learned by students through adaptive software, not through direct teaching
- Creating lesson plans independently. You will operate from an established life skills curriculum and structured playbook
- Making report cards or preparing students for standardized examinations. Student mastery is verified through assessments you conduct, not administrative tasks
- Remaining stationary at a desk. This is an active role requiring physical presence and direct student engagement throughout the day
About Alpha
Alexander School is a private school that has fundamentally redesigned traditional education. Academic learning occurs through adaptive software that allows students to advance at their own speed, often progressing up to 2x faster than conventional classroom peers. Software alone, however, cannot develop resilience. It cannot prepare a reserved 7-year-old to confidently present before an audience. That responsibility falls to you.

- Availability to work on-site in Austin, TX (relocation support available)
- Comfortable operating in a non-traditional educational setting centered on motivation and student engagement rather than traditional instruction
- Legal authorization to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Experience in youth sports coaching, competitive academic programs, or structured enrichment camp environments
- Familiarity with behavioral motivation methodologies such as goal-setting frameworks, incentive design, or accountability mechanisms
- Proven ability to connect with disengaged or resistant young learners and facilitate meaningful turnarounds
