Job Summary
We are currently seeking a candidate to join our Business Development and Sales team responsible for the academic sector in the Southern CA Territory. This is a field-based, hybrid role, and candidates must be based in the San Diego area to allow for part-time work from our San Diego office, frequent in-person meetings, and attendance at regional networking events.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify new clients and expand existing client relationships
- Present products and services to potential customers with an emphasis on biomedical and translational research
- Establish institution-level relationship with client organizations
- Drive sales growth and expand market presence
- Coordinate potential research collaborations between GemPharmatech and clients
- Attend national and local conferences and events
- Provide feedback on market needs, trends, competitive landscape and new business opportunities to the rest of the company
- Advocate for genetically engineered mouse models and their value to biomedical research
- Represent GemPharmatech’s core values reliably
Key Requirements and Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or higher in Biology, Pharmacy, or a related field, with overseas study experience required
- Knowledge and experience with genetically engineered mouse models desired
- At least 5 years’ experience selling to academic research institutions preferred. Experience in translational research preferred
- Masterful selling skills that result in strong, trusting customer relationships
- Highly effective at overcoming obstacles with strong interpersonal communication skills
- Skilled in conducting business and sales presentations with scientific rigor
- Excellent writing and analytical skills; Attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work independently and as part of a team; comfortable working with internal resources to achieve sales growth, including but not limited to R&D, product management, marketing, project management, production and quality assurance
- Able to travel in the US and internationally with expected travel time of 25% or more
- Sensitive to social, economic and cultural differences
- Mandarin speaking is preferred
Compensation and Benefits
- Commensurate with experience, $95K-$108K base salary, with a competitive commission plan
