In alignment with the mission of Academic Affairs to ensure academic equity, integrity and quality, the Academic Assistant supports the Office of Academic and Community Standards (OACS) team in their workflows and partnerships with university stakeholders. This role involves managing learner complaints and policies related to academic honesty, grade appeals, learner code of conduct, professional ethics and standards, academic standing, and discrimination and harassment.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Workflow: Intake and manage, within Service Level Agreements:
    • Academic policy violation and appeal cases (Academic Integrity and Honesty, Learner Code of Conduct, Professional Standards, Grade Appeals, Learner Grievance, Discrimination, Harassment/Assault)
    • Complaints: Academic, Executive, Third Party
    • Special Credit Requests
    • Red Card process
    • Academic Standing Appeals
  • Communication & Evaluation/Assessment: Identify patterns and actions to assess and improve workflows and OACS communication.
  • Cross-Functional Work:
    • Assist research/documentation projects
    • Pull documentation for workflow cases (e.g., Academic Integrity and Honesty)
    • Assist President’s Designee workflow
    • Track workflows and provide feedback to staff on improvement/efficiency
  • Other Duties:
    • Schedule rooms and meetings
    • Coordinate projects and workflows for rotation/schedules
    • Other duties or projects as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in academic administration, advising, or transferable experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available)

Skills

  • Required:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Zoom
    • Basic data entry
    • FERPA or privacy training
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with ERP Applications: SalesForce, PeopleSoft
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize work
    • Flexibility to shift focus as needed
    • Experience in an online education environment with minimal face-to-face student interaction
    • Ability to work with a diverse student population, including adult learners

Work Environment

  • Ability to travel occasionally (may involve plane, car, or metro; accommodations available per ADA policies)
  • May require onsite work in a corporate or campus office environment (mobility within the office, including elevators or stairs)
  • If hybrid or remote, must have access to a workspace that meets role requirements (privacy, reliable internet, phone, video conferencing)
  • Ability to meet critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication demands of the role
  • Accommodations related to schedule or lifting may be considered

Pay

$23.00 - $28.00 hourly (starting pay range; actual offer may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity)
