About the role
The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago. It prepares students for a lifelong passion for learning on its 273-acre campus, offering nine associate degrees and a variety of professional and technical certificates. These credentials often facilitate seamless articulation into baccalaureate programs at partner institutions.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- To provide academic assistance to students in the Writing, Reading, Speech Assistance Area of the College of DuPage.
- To offer presentations in classrooms or online.
- To provide writing, reading, and public speaking assistance to students in all academic disciplines taught at the College of DuPage, both in-person and online.
- To conduct and/or create workshops on various writing, reading, and speech topics to be presented in classrooms or through webinars.
- To consult and serve as a resource to other academic assistants and peer academic assistants.
- To develop and/or participate in training on WRSA (Writing, Reading, Speech Assistance) related topics.
- To maintain current and relevant knowledge in subject areas and general study skills.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline is required.
- Experience teaching or providing academic assistance is required.
- Experience presenting in groups is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in spoken English, are required.
