About the role
The academic advisor would serve the Mathematics and Computer Science degree programs in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as the Chemistry degree programs in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science. The primary purpose of these two departments is to provide education to majors within their academic degree programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic advising to majors within the Mathematics and Computer Science degree programs in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as the Chemistry degree programs in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science.
- Manage a wide variety of records, files, and reports.
- Use a personal computer to complete duties and knowledge of Microsoft Office products (WORD, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Requirements
- An earned master’s degree from an accredited institution preferably in the degree program to which they are assigned.
- Experience in higher education, preferably in academic advising, counseling admissions, enrollment management or student affairs.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics.
- Work experience in a higher education setting specifically in academic advising, teaching, counseling, admissions, enrollment management or student affairs are preferred.
