About the role

This position opening is for an individual to serve, as both, a part-time Academic Administrator (50%) and part-time Adjunct Professor (50%) position. Each position description is detailed below.

Responsibilities

  • Academic Administrator duties (50%)
    • NATURE AND PURPOSE

  • Adjunct Professor duties (50%)
    • TEACHING AND MENTORING (65% VARIABLE)
    • RESEARCH AND SCHOLARLY WORK (25% VARIABLE)
    • PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AND ACTIVITY (5%)
    • UNIVERSITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE (5%)

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in nutrition or closely related field, with expertise in Maternal and Child Nutrition
  • International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification
  • Post-doctoral experience preferred
  • RD preferred
  • Evidence of teaching, leadership, and administrative skills relevant to the independent management and direction of a graduate degree program and a lactation research and outreach center; ability to maintain a successful research, teaching, and outreach program in the discipline of Maternal and Child Nutrition
  • Evidence of scholarship during graduate and post-graduate activities
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to obtain extramural support for research activities
  • Interest, understanding, and commitment to contributing to diversity
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to diversity and inclusion of groups that are underrepresented in the academy through education, research, and/or service would be a plus
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to develop and instruct graduate courses and to present information to scientific audiences
  • Demonstrated ability or potential and interest to mentor and advise M.S. students
  • Evidence of communication skills and collegiality consistent with effective departmental, campus and professional citizenship
