Assistant Professor of Nutrition
Position Summary
The Department of Nutrition at MSU Denver invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position to begin January 2027 (preferred start date) or August 2027. This is an in person, on campus position which will teach introductory and advanced human nutrition courses in both undergraduate and graduate programs. The candidate will be an integral member of the Department of Nutrition and will be required to follow those responsibilities outlined in the MSU Denver Faculty Employment Handbook. MSU Denver has a robust mentoring program for tenure-track faculty. The candidate will be enrolled in the Roadrunner Faculty Academy during their first year. This is a year-long course designed to support new faculty to navigate faculty life and thrive in teaching, scholarly activity and service.
Responsibilities
- Teach a minimum of 24 credit hours (or equivalent) per academic year and maintain four (4) office hours per week to include advising and consultation with students.
- Some teaching responsibilities may include teaching an evening course.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both undergraduate and graduate nutrition courses.
- The candidate will also be expected to engage in scholarly activity and participate in service to the department/college/university/community/field of nutrition.
- The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban non-traditional population that includes U.S. ethnic minorities.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral Degree in Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, Food Science/Technology, Public Health Nutrition, or other Nutrition-related field.
- ABD candidates are encouraged to apply, however, degree must be conferred by the start of classes.
- Registered Dietitian and at least 2 years of work experience in nutrition.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience at the university level and experience with developing and teaching in a variety of formats (face-to-face, online synchronous, online asynchronous).
- High quality teaching as evidenced by student and/or peer evaluations submitted with application.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Three (3) or more years of work experience in nutrition practice.

Salary for Announcement
The salary range for this faculty position is $75,000 - $85,000 at Assistant Professor rank. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, discipline, specialty, and training.
