988 Statewide Chat/Text Crisis Specialist

About the Role

This position is part of a 24/7/365 high-volume, suicide prevention-focused team. You will answer statewide 988 chat/texts and conduct brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. The ideal candidate has excellent computer skills, strong written communication abilities for instant messaging, and the ability to multi-task in a high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate high-level clinical knowledge and skill in providing telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments.
  • Answer crisis contacts via Zoom contact center or the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources.
  • Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide.
  • Meet ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation requirements.
  • Actively participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings.
  • Demonstrate high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Provide service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources.
  • Promote a departmental culture of cooperation and collaboration with cross-functional departments, community agencies, hospitals, mental health consumers, and the public.
  • Assist in administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
  • Six months to one year of crisis experience is preferred.
  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods.
  • Knowledge of suicide assessments and crisis intervention skills.

Skills

Schedule

Full-time, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Friday through Tuesday.

Pay

Pay range: $20.05 – $28.10 per hour.
