About the role
The M1 Abrams Tank is the primary armored vehicle used by the Army National Guard. This role involves supervising and performing maintenance on these tanks to ensure they remain operational.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in various systems including suspension, steering, hydraulic, auxiliary power units, fire extinguisher/suppression, and gas particulate systems.
- Perform on-board direct support tasks such as vehicular mounted armament, gun turret drive system, and fire control system maintenance.
Requirements
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail.
- Interest in working with diesel and turbine engines.
Skills
- Electronic and mechanical principles and concepts.
- Use of electronic, electrical, and mechanical test equipment.
- Use of schematics, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
