About the role
The M1 Abrams Tank System Maintainer position within the Army National Guard involves supervising and performing maintenance on these tanks. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions, performing maintenance on various systems such as suspension, steering, hydraulic, auxiliary power units, fire extinguisher/suppression, and gas particulate systems. Additionally, you will perform maintenance on vehicular mounted armament, gun turret drive system, and fire control system.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in M1 Abrams Tanks
- Perform organizational maintenance on suspension, steering, hydraulic, auxiliary power units, fire extinguisher/suppression, and gas particulate systems
- Perform organizational maintenance on vehicular mounted armament, gun turret drive system, and fire control system
Requirements
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate

Qualifications
Helpful skills include strong attention to detail and interest in working with diesel and turbine engines. Training will prepare you for civilian careers as an electronics mechanic, avionics technician, or missile facilities repairer.

Pay
Actual pay range is between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.
Schedule
Training for this role includes 10 weeks of Basic Training and 24 weeks of Advanced Individual Training.
