625-07 Direct Support Professional

About the Role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can.

Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and other personal care tasks so that individuals may always look and feel their best. The DSP may also assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines.

DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training, as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain all required certifications while complying with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Schedule

• Sunday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM
• Tuesday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Thursday: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Friday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Full-time: 40 hours per week. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double-shifts, to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported.

Pay

New pay rate: $17.50 – $19.00 per hour. Paid training provided.

Sign-on bonus: $1000 for full-time and $500 for part-time employees.

Requirements

• 21+ years of age with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to speak, read, and write in fluent English
• Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
• Varied interests and personal connections in the local community
• Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history)
• Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team
• Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above and demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job
