About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can.

Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and other personal care tasks so that they may always look and feel their best. The DSP may assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines.

DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training, as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home. The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain all required certifications while complying with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living activities (e.g., household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, personal hygiene).
  • Support individuals in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities.
  • Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.
  • Safely evacuate individuals from the home during emergencies.
  • Maintain certifications and comply with Agency policies and DDS regulations.
  • Work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated team member.

Requirements

  • Must be 21+ with a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
  • Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community.
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double-shifts, to meet program and individual needs.

Pay

$17.50 - $19.00 per hour, with paid training provided by Venture.

Schedule

  • Full-time: 40 hours per week.
  • Sun: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Wed: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Thu: 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Fri: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
