About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc., so that they may always look and feel their best. The DSP may assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines. DSP workers must safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain certifications in compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities (household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, personal hygiene).
• Support individuals in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities.
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
• Ensure safety and compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations.
• Safely evacuate individuals in case of emergencies.
• Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, MAP).

Requirements

• Must be 21+ with a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and daily access to a car (preferred but not required).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double shifts.
• Commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities in community participation.
• Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
• Ability to work creatively and collaboratively as part of a team.

Pay

$17.50–$19.00 per hour.

Schedule

• Sunday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Tuesday–Wednesday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Saturday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

32 hours per week.
