Schedule & compensation

  • Schedule: Sunday 11p-9a, Wednesday 11p-9a
  • Part-Time: 20 Hours
  • Salary: $17.50 - $19.00 (Paid Training!)
  • Location: Gardner, MA
  • Sign On Bonus: $1000 for Full Time and $500 for Part Time employees

Responsibilities

  • Advocate and support adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can
  • Assist with household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc. so that individuals may always look and feel their best
  • Assist individuals to medical appointments and banking
  • Assist individuals to become active members of their community
  • Attend outings
  • Administer medications
  • Follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals
  • Follow medical guidelines that are in place
  • Safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency
  • Maintain certifications
  • Handle job related duties in compliance with Agency policies and follow all DDS regulations/policies

Qualifications

  • Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
  • Varied interests and personal connections in the local community
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team
  • Must be 21+ with reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience working in a residential setting with highly behavioral individuals
  • Possess the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in fluent English
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported. This may include holidays, overnights, or double shifts

Training provided

DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person specific training at the individuals' home.
