New Pay Rate! Paid Training! Schedule: Sun-weds 11p-9a Full time: 40 hours Pay: $17.50 - 19.00 per hour – Paid training provided by Venture! Sign On Bonus: $1000 for Full Time and $500 for Part Time employees

About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc…so that they may always look and feel their best. The DSP may be asked to assist them to their medical appointments, banking, assist them to become active members of their community, attend outings, administer medications, follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and to follow medical guidelines that are in place.

Responsibilities

  • Advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can
  • Supporting with household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc…
  • Aiding in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities
  • Administering medications and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals
  • Following medical guidelines that are in place
  • Safely evacuating individuals from the home in the event of an emergency

Requirements

  • 21+ with reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above, and ability to perform essential functions of the job
  • Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing skills
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported

  • Variated interests and personal connections in the local community
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team

Skills

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of disability-related support services
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification
