5K SIGN ON BONUS- Class B HAZMAT Truck Driver / Equipment Operator

About the role

Clean Harbors in Buffalo (Lancaster), NY is seeking a Class B CDL Driver with Hazmat endorsement to operate light and heavy-duty trucks and work equipment at customer sites. Vehicles operated include vacuum trailers, roll-off trailers, van trailers, box trucks, and high-powered vacuum loaders. This role involves driving and non-driving duties on and off customer sites associated with hazardous waste clean-up, including travel, on-call rotation, and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers as needed in a team atmosphere
• Operate a variety of Class B trucks
• Load and unload trucks
• Ensure customer satisfaction at time of service
• Properly placard vehicles to meet Company and DOT requirements/regulations
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports
• Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements
• Observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
• Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week (by position)
• Perform site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials (by position)

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL
• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsement
• Ability to use various mobile devices
• Perform physical functions per job requirements
• Successfully complete a drug test and physical (by position)
• Meet facial hair standards per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) for positions requiring respirators

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial driver experience
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsement
• Previous Hazmat experience
• Previous manual labor experience

Pay

Hourly range: $27.00 – $31.00 per hour, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Schedule & Travel

• Travel required; on-call rotation for emergency response every other week
• New hires attend a two-week paid training Academy out of state; travel expenses and per diem provided by the company
