SIGN ON BONUS- $5K-Class A HAZMAT Truck Driver / Equipment Operator

About the role

Clean Harbors in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Class A CDL Driver with Hazmat endorsement to operate a variety of heavy and light duty trucks and work equipment (vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, roll offs) at customer sites, performing driving and non-driving duties related to hazardous waste clean‑up. The position includes travel, on‑call, and emergency response responsibilities, and requires new hires to complete a two‑week paid training academy out of state, with travel expenses and per diem covered by the company.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the top priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers as needed.
• Operate a variety of Class A trucks.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Perform manual labor on site to meet customer needs.
• Properly placard vehicles to meet company and DOT requirements.
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports.
• Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations.
• Safely operate vehicles per U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements.
• Observe corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
• Observe company environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week.
• Conduct site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
• Ability to use various mobile devices.
• Ability to perform physical functions required by the job.
• Successfully pass a drug test and physical examination.
• Meet OSHA respiratory protection facial‑hair standards if a respirator is required.
