About the role

Clean Harbors in Albany (Schenectady), NY is seeking a Class B CDL Driver (Hazmat) to operate light and heavy‑duty trucks and work equipment at customer sites. The role involves driving and non‑driving duties related to hazardous waste clean‑up, operating vehicles such as vacuum trailers, roll‑off trailers, van trailers, box trucks, and high‑powered vacuum loaders. The position includes travel, on‑call, and emergency response responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
  • Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers when needed (team atmosphere where everyone helps)
  • Operate a variety of Class B trucks
  • Loading and unloading of trucks
  • Ensure customer satisfaction at time of service
  • Proper placarding of vehicles to meet Company and DOT requirements/regulations
  • Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports
  • Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements
  • Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Ability to be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week
  • Site‑remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials

Qualifications

  • Valid Class B CDL
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission
  • Hazmat and Tanker endorsement
  • Ability to use various mobile devices
  • Perform physical functions per job requirements
  • Successfully complete a drug test and physical
  • Meet OSHA respiratory protection facial hair standards (29 CFR 1910.34) if respirators are required

Preferred qualifications:

  • Commercial driver experience
  • Hazmat and Tanker endorsement
  • Previous Hazmat experience
  • Previous manual labor experience

Pay

Hourly range: $27.00 – $31.00, plus overtime and the sign‑on bonus.

Schedule

Position requires on‑call availability for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week, with travel to customer sites as needed.
