4th Year Sickle Cell Disease Fellow

About the role

The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and the Emory University Department of Pediatrics invite applications for a fellowship position in the pediatric Sickle Cell Disease Program. The fellowship aims to train physicians in the treatment of children and adolescents with Sickle Cell Disease.

Responsibilities

• Comprise clinical rotations (up to 70%) and up to 30% research, tailored based on individual interest.
• Participate in educational topics through didactics and rotating topics by SCD faculty.
• Present clinical and research findings at internal conferences and retreats.
• Engage in leadership activities, including attending case conferences and participating in treatment discussions.
• Receive training through clinical rotations (at least 70%, including inpatient and outpatient clinic, and multidisciplinary specialty clinic) and up to 30% research.

Requirements

• Completed residency training in pediatrics, internal medicine, or family medicine.
• A strong interest in pediatric hematology/oncology.
• Prior completion of a fellowship in pediatric or adult hematology/oncology preferred.
• Research question in mind, including a hypothesis, study aims, and specifics of the study population.

• Doctoral degree in relevant field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with patient care and medical research.
