4-H Oconee County AmeriCorps State Member, Full-time

About the role

The Georgia 4-H AmeriCorps State member provides 4-H programming directly to youth under the direction of the County Extension Agent. Supervision is also provided by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. This includes planning, implementation, and delivery of programming including in-school and after school club meetings, camp, and other 4-H programming delivered in the county as well as volunteer recruitment and transportation of youth.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate/teach 4-H in-school club meetings
• Prepare students for 4-H Project Achievement
• Attend 4-H Summer Camp
• Design and implement community service projects
• Assist with other 4-H base programming
• Assist the 4-H Agent with day-to-day activities involved with providing direct services to youth, such as planning and development of 4-H programming
• Provide transportation to youth
• Support and provide leadership to the county 4-H Volunteer program: recruit, screen, train, and engage volunteers
• Track and document data related to the AmeriCorps Grant performance measures and complete monthly reports, supported by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator
• Administer surveys to youth and enter data into provided spreadsheets
• Attend local, district, and state program activities and events alongside 4-H County Extension Coordinator
• Attend district and state-wide trainings, including the AmeriCorps New Service Year Orientation (October 6-7, 2026, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center) as well as additional face-to-face trainings and at least monthly webinars

Requirements

The successful candidate must exhibit qualities of independent judgment and a passion for service as well as the ability to perform the tasks necessary in planning, developing, and directing educational programs directed at youth. Experience working with youth is a plus.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent to apply. Additional education and experience are preferred but not required. The position requires a one-year commitment.

Benefits provided to full-time AmeriCorps members include modest monthly living allowance ($2,075.00/month), health insurance, daycare assistance (if income-eligible), loan forbearance, and a Segal Education Award equivalent to the Pell Grant that may be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions as well as to repay qualified student loans. To qualify for the Segal Education Award of $7,395 the member must successfully log 1,700 service hours by August 31, 2027.
