About the role

The Georgia 4-H AmeriCorps State member provides 4-H programming directly to youth under the direction of the County Extension Agent. Supervision is also provided by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. This includes planning, implementation, and delivery of programming including in-school and after school club meetings, camp, and other 4-H programming delivered in the county as well as volunteer recruitment and transportation of youth. The member will also assist the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator in collecting impact data by administering surveys to youth and entering data into provided spreadsheets. Members will comply with AmeriCorps guidelines such as quarterly reporting, monthly webinars, and other trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 4-H positive youth development programming directly to youth, including:
    • facilitating/teaching 4-H in-school club meetings;
    • preparing students for 4-H Project Achievement;
    • attending 4-H Summer Camp;
    • designing and implementing community service projects;
    • assisting with other 4-H base programming.
  • Support and provide leadership to the county 4-H Volunteer program:
    • recruit, screen, train, and engage volunteers.
    • The member may assist with coordinating the county volunteer registration database.
    • Half-time members should recruit at least 3 new volunteers during their service.
  • Track and document data related to the AmeriCorps Grant performance measures and complete monthly reports, supported by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. This includes administering surveys to youth as well as data entry.
  • Attend local, district, and state program activities and events alongside 4-H County Extension Coordinator. Attend district and state-wide trainings, including the AmeriCorps New Service Year Orientation (October 6-7, 2026, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center) as well as additional face-to-face trainings and at least monthly webinars.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with youth is a plus.
  • Independent judgment and a passion for service.
  • Ability to perform tasks necessary in planning, developing, and directing educational programs directed at youth.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry and spreadsheet management.

  • To qualify for the Segal Education Award of $3,697.50, the member must successfully log 900 service hours by August 31, 2027.

Schedule

M-F 8am to 5pm; some nights and weekends are required.
