About the role

The University of Georgia is a public research university located in Athens, Georgia, with a main campus and several extension campuses across the state. The position is within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), specifically the Southeast District.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 4-H positive youth development programming directly to youth, including facilitating/teaching 4-H in-school club meetings; preparing students for 4-H Project Achievement; attending 4-H Summer Camp; designing and implementing community service projects; and assisting with other 4-H base programming.
  • Support and provide leadership to the county 4-H Volunteer program: recruit, screen, train, and engage volunteers. Assist with coordinating the county volunteer registration database.
  • Track and document data related to the AmeriCorps performance measures and complete monthly reports, supported by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. Administer surveys to youth and enter data into provided spreadsheets.
  • Attend local, district, and state program activities and events alongside 4-H County Extension Coordinator. Attend district and state-wide trainings, including the AmeriCorps New Service Year Orientation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • U.S. citizen with proof of citizenship.
  • Independent judgment and a passion for service, along with the ability to perform tasks necessary in planning, developing, and directing educational programs directed at youth.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Physical demands: driving, light lifting, occasional work outdoors in adverse climate.
