3rd Shift Packer

About the Role

As a Packer, you will work in an area producing product that is packed into trays or cartons for shipping. You will be responsible for packing product at established speeds, preparing cartons and displays, manually packing and palletizing product, and performing final quality inspections of finished goods. This role also includes sanitation duties on ovens and production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cardboard cartons or trays for product packing by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling.
• Secure carton ends and place cartons or trays in the work area.
• Report any equipment issues to the Machine Operator.
• Perform visual inspections of final product packaging for integrity, including bag registration, code dates, and proper seals.
• Remove out-of-spec product and communicate packaging problems.
• Fill cartons or displays based on packaging specifications.
• Ensure products are packaged in cases with appropriate labels; tape and seal cartons as needed.
• Stack the correct number of cartons or trays on pallets using the proper stacking pattern.
• Use a pallet jack to move finished goods weighing up to 300 lbs.
• Follow QA SOP for bag removal, clear loose product from the area, and discard defective items.
• Sweep loose product off the floor and assist with product rework as needed.
• Maintain a clean work area by adhering to 5S protocols and store supplies in designated areas.
• Keep work area aisles and exits clear and free from obstructions.
• Remove trash from the work area and follow safe lifting and carrying instructions.
• Perform sanitation tasks, including equipment washes, seasoner cleaning, oven cleaning, and wipeouts.
• Prepare production lines for startup and assist with equipment changeovers.
• Operate tray-making or stapling machines as needed.
• Report any issues to Machine Operators, Group Leaders, or Supervisors.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).

Pay

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
