Responsibilities
- Types and reproduces materials from handwritten script or oral directions such as materials for classroom and office use.
- Keeps records, charts, and graphs.
- Assists others in matters of filing, sorting, data collecting, and organizing materials.
- Assists in school offices in matters of routine clerical work.
- Collects and accounts for monies received.
- Assists and/or prepares reports including simple statistical reports.
- Answers phones; takes and delivers messages.
- Sorts and determines the routing of mail.
- Serves as an office receptionist.
- Administers first aid to students in the absence of school nurse.
- Keeps records on student attendance.
- Maintains student records in compliance with Oregon law.
- Fulfills other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in an office or administrative setting.
- Involves prolonged sitting, frequent computer and keyboard use, occasional standing or walking, and lifting items such as files or office supplies consistent with assigned duties.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels and frequent interruptions while interacting with staff, students, families, and community members.
- Work follows assigned business hours and may include occasional deadlines requiring flexibility.
- Periodic interaction with students and may be required to provide supervision support during school operations or activities, working in environments with moderate to high noise levels.
- Requires multitasking, organization, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication.
- The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and up to one year of advanced training/experience in the specific job requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of grammar and the ability to use correct speech and compose routine correspondence.
- Ability to understand technical instructions (computers).
- Knowledge of technical procedures.
- Working knowledge of School District practices or policies.
- Job proficiency can be acquired in six months to one year.
- Hold a valid first aid card.
- Type 40 words per minute with accuracy.
- Read, understand, and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Learn to deal with bodily fluids.
- Learn the operation of telephones, computers, and other equipment used in the work.
- Accurately transfer, record, and convey information, materials, and money as required by the position.
- Adhere to the district requirements for a drug-free workplace.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately in speech and in writing in accordance with educational standards.
- Abide by confidentiality requirements.
- Must be computer literate: able to use district-related software systems, internet, and email systems.
- The ability to design and use spreadsheets/databases is a plus.

Pay
This position’s pay is annualized to include summer months.
